About Our Club

Thanks for your interest in knowing more about the Mid-Peninsula Old Time Auto Club (MPOTAC). Our family friendly car club began in 1960, as a small group of collectors shared their love for cars with others on the Peninsula and throughout the Bay Area. We have hosted and participated in local, regional, and interstate car tours, along with supporting many antique automobile events and holiday parades throughout the past half century. Our members have been a part of the collectible car world for decades, leading and participating in everything from local swap meets, to major national concours events. A few of our members maintain the cherished tradition of wearing period appropriate dress matching their vintage automobiles, and providing an immersive experience for fellow car enthusiasts and the public, as shown during our El Camino Centennial Tour.

We strive to complement our monthly meetings with regular tours and by participating in community celebrations when appropriate. Whether driving in procession or displaying as a group, our club members enjoy the camaraderie found in this club of like-minded vehicle collectors. The aim of our club is to perpetuate the old-time automobile, promote general interest in old cars, and encourage collectors to enjoy driving their vehicles with our regular club activities. We welcome those interested in attending one of our regular meetings at 7:30pm on the fourth Friday of any month (except December and holiday conflicts). With a simple application process, you too could be a member of this fabulous car club.

Our most famous activity is our annual Friendship Day invitational car show. This event began as a rally for local clubs to get together and share food, fun and friendship together. This event continues today as the Bay Area's oldest open car event for members from regional car clubs, who come together and connect with friends and share the technical knowledge and expertise essential to a rewarding experience in the world of old cars. We've been fortunate to have the Port of Redwood City welcome our annual event in recent years, allowing us to keep this family favorite activity local on the Peninsula. Everyone's welcome to attend Friendship Day, on the Sunday after Mother's Day, at the Port of Redwood City (entry fees apply to all vehicles on display). Please feel free to contact any officer of our club with questions, we hope to meet you soon.
